Love Me Once Again
This is a live recording of the Rockets from 1978, or '79, taken from the mixing console and used in a live radio concert. I used pictures I happed to have which include some friends of the band and hopefully next time I'll do a better job. Fidelity ain't great but it sounds pretty good for a 'board-tape' recorded in 1978.

Enhanced the audio a bit. Too bad I couldn't brighten the video a little. Detroit's Rockets doing Peter Green's "Oh Well" from their "Turn Up The Radio" Album, released in 1978. May God bless David Gilbert.

Audio enhanced by raising the recorded volume a little bit. I sure would like to brighten the video some. It is too dark. Oh Well... This video was recorded about 1980 and taken from an old VHS tape. The song, "Desire" is from the bands "No Ballads" album, released in late 1979. A compilation CD of "Turn Up The Radio" and "No Ballads" was released in 2009 by Renaissance Records.

Detroit's own Rockets doing their arrangement of Peter Green's song "Oh, Well." This was a live performance in Burbank, CA in March, 1980. This particular line-up consisted of; Jim McCarty, Johnny "Bee" Badanjek, David Gilbert, Dennis Robbins, Donnie Backus, and Danny Keylon.

Colorado Sun-Day 1979 #2 Saturday, June 16, 1979 Heart Ted Nugent The Cars The Rockets UFO I still have my ticket stub.. Rockets surprised everyone with their set. They kicked ass..
Saw them open for Black Sabbath in 1980 Heaven and Hell Tour Columbus, Ohio ☠️
Truly love this version. It f’in rocks hard.
They have better stage presence than a lot better KNOWN acts.
What a throwback
Johnny "The Bee Badanjek" may have been the best pocket rock drummer .
I grew up in Pontiac around there they had lots of rock stations they played these guys been looking for them for a long time . Thanks for posting this.
Wat ne lahmartige Scheisse.
Big Jim 🙏
This song still rocks! Amazed I never heard any other hits from them. One hit wonders? Singer reminds me if Dave Mustaine.
That's funny...he reminds me much more of Mitch Ryder, the guy McCarty and Badanjek started out with in the 60s
They opened for Kiss in 1977 at the Spectrum Philadelphia. This was my first concert.
Me too, was supposed to be AC/DC.
Saw them open for Kiss in 1978 Buffalo NY...
whole lotta love? just cheesier and silly...
Detroit Rock and Roll!
Okay, first time I am seeing the band that opened for MY GODS: KISS. Had no idea what to expect, glad to see my boys give these dudes some help. Love the opening riff. Hope they were not treated to rudely by The Army ....... KISS ARMY that is.
Great band! Jim McCarty played with Mitch Ryder, Cactus, jammed with Hendrix (Nine To The Universe lp), Mystery Train. Yep makes you wonder why they never went big time........maybe McCarty wasn't into the record company b.s. of the time. This was his band.
👍
Man big Jim was plugged in to Marshalls, always have preferred him thru a couple blackface twins...
Boom, grew up with the local bands!
I seen them open up for KISS in 79' wonder what happened to them?
Sadly I never seen them in concert growing up in Fenton and holly mich area but loved this band gritty rock n roll also loved their version of Lucille
Detroit rock n roll
Saw the Rockets at Pine Nob in 1977, always loved there version of Lucille!!
onfg
dolores and buck naked where you at?!?!
The greatest cover of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac classic. Michigan sure had a lot of great music and musicians. Peace y'all!
Judas priest respectfully disagrees
I was fortunate enough to see these guys a bunch of times as an opening act for alot of big bands at Castle Farms Music Theater in Charlevoix Mi back in the 80's.
The Rockets, The James Gang, and others was MY R&R.....got a lot of flack for not really being into Journey, etc of the time. This is a group that should have made it, but I feel the lead singers drug use did them in.....just a IMHO.
I saw these guys open for REO Speedwagon in the early '80's, around the time they made this video. They stole the show! It's too bad they never got anywhere, because their only album (that I know of) was pretty good. It also contained the hit: "Can't Sleep". Check it out, if you were around back then, you'll remember it as a forgotten blast from the past.
Can’t Sleep is awesome and the No Ballads album came out after that. Get a copy if you can…thank me later
Cool to be introduced by Hall of Famer Roy Orbison.
Love it!!✌🏼🏃♀️🏃🏻😀❤️
“Desire” was co-written by Rocket member Dennis Robbins, who would later after leaving the Rockets in 1983, he would move to Nashville, Tennessee and become a multi-platinum country songwriter, co-writing such hits like: “(Do You Love Me) Just Say Yes”, “Get Me To The Church on Cumberland Road”, “No Chance To Dance”, “Finally Friday”, “Two Of A Kind (Workin’ On A Full House”, “Too Much Month at the End of the Money”, “Home Sweet Home” and much more.
My 2nd concert ever was the farewell tour at Pine Knob. I love the rockets, listen to them 2 this day(got all the albums) Just a shame it didn't work. Both Gilbert's we're great singers.
MC5!! Enough said.
Great American Rock and Roll band from Detroit. Where Rock and Roll Started! Fact! 🤠🇺🇸🐎🇨🇦
One of my favorite songs from my youth.
Love Jim McCarty
That's not peter green. Up there
Misses the driving piano part of the studio take for sure but STILL high energy rocking. This band shoulda been WAY bigger.
Happy Heavenly Birthday Dave. Gone too soon
The problem with the band, was they had a dumb fuck that thought he only was the only one that mattered ,I was there, he died! He fucked himself!
Man I miss this Band!! Driving back n forth from school from the U.P. to the suburbs of Detroit, it was impossible to drive the speed limit while listening to the Rockets!! State Police didn't understand.... Imagine that!! R.I.P. Dave, you left us way too soon!! THIS WAS DETROIT ROCK N ROLL!!
Incendiary !!! 🎸 🔌 🎶
this is good shit
